The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga delivers registrarial services to support U of T Mississauga's academic goals and U of T priorities in the areas of student information, interpretation of policies, and innovation of registrarial interactions.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Admissions, the Student Recruitment and Admissions Officer works closely with other members of the student recruitment and admissions team to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to assist U of T Mississauga in achieving its student recruitment and admission objectives and enrolment goals.
Working as a member of the Student Recruitment and Admissions team the Officer contributes to overall U of T Mississauga recruitment and admission objectives through the delivery of timely and accurate student-focused service, and active participation in recruitment events.
The Officer assesses undergraduate admission and transfer credit applications and makes timely, accurate decisions that contribute to the institution’s enrolment objectives.
The Student Recruitment and Admissions Officer’s key recruitment responsibilities include planning and promoting U of T Mississauga and U of T at recruitment events, conducting presentations and responding to inquiries from prospective students, their families and guidance counsellors.
The Officer’s admission responsibilities include assessment of applications in accordance with admission policies and enrolment goals, applying knowledge of both Canadian and international credentials, assisting with evaluation of appeals, processing transfer credit evaluations, monitoring offers of admission with conditions taking necessary action if conditions are not met, assisting with entrance award decisions, and responding to admissions related inquiries.
The Officer will assist with monitoring and preparing statistical reports on student recruitment and admissions.
The Student Recruitment and Admissions Officer will be required to travel extensively within and outside Ontario during certain parts of the year (trips can be up to two weeks at a time) and will be expected to make their own travel arrangements for these trips.
The Officer will be expected to make several presentations each day, set-up their own equipment and have the abilityto lift boxes of promotional materials (up to 25 lbs).
Travel and recruitment requirements will be subject to COVID-19 public health guidelines.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies
- Keeping well-informed on recruitment trends
- Promoting programs at recruitment events
- Delivering student recruitment presentations
- Fostering positive relationships with prospective students
- Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and / or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
- Reviewing and assessing admissions applications
- Applying established standards to ensure adherence with transfer credit rules and guidelines
Essential Qualifications :
- University degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Minimum four (4) years' experience in a university direct student services environment
- Experience in large scale / divisional undergraduate student recruitment
- Experience planning and coordinating events and delivering presentation to diverse groups of prospective students
- Experience advising students on undergraduate admissions, transfer credit and academic requirements
- Knowledgeable about university life, student recruitment, transfer credit and admission policies, procedures and requirements
- Solid understanding of provincial, national and international university and college education systems
- Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer and advising services with a proven record of tact, diplomacy and conflict resolution
- Excellent communication, public speaking and presentation skills
- Proficiency in ROSI, Slate, social media and MS Office with advanced level of knowledge in Excel
- Well-developed analytical and interpretative skills with the ability to understand and apply a large amount of information and complex set of regulations and guidelines with minimal supervision
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure within a rapidly changing environment and manage competing priorities and deadlines

USW Pay Band 12 $79,874. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $102,147. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation / Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
