Position Summary
The Event Equipment Operator is a member of the Venue Services Team, responsible for assisting with setup and tear down of events, operating motorized vehicles / equipment while maintaining pride of place and keeping a tidy work environment.
This position involves providing exceptional customer service to all clients, guests and other departments, the operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, performing general labor tasks and facility operations as assigned.
The Event Equipment Operator positions available are casual-part-time positions that will require the successful candidate to work flexible hours throughout the week.
We are currently recruiting for multiple open positions.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to :
- Provide exceptional customer services to internal and external customers.
- Perform general labor tasks as assigned.
- Assist with heavy manual tasks involved in event set-up and tear-out, attend coat check and report concerns and challenges to Venue Services supervisor for follow-up.
- Operate motorized vehicles and equipment.
- Carry out facility operations and maintenance.
- Conduct routine security checks and vehicle inspections.
- Follow safety procedures and environmental programs and report concerns, challenges and offer input to Venue Services supervisor for follow-up.
- Train, orient, monitor and motivate staff, as required.
- Perform all duties of venue services attendant, as required.
- Assembling and dismantling of steel walls.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have the ability to multitask, as well as the following :
- High standards of cleanliness and able to provide exceptional customer service.
- Previous building attendant experience is an asset.
- Must possess a valid AB Class 5 driver’s license.
- Experience in the operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, man lifts, walk-behind scrubbers, ride-on scrubbers, sweepers, tractors and skid steers is preferred.
- Must not have a fear of working around large animals and livestock.
- Must demonstrate social awareness and communicate with tack and diplomacy.
- Must have basic computer skills including ability to navigate to the internet to use online scheduling program.
- Must have basic English language skills including reading, basic writing and comprehension to complete safety related documentation as needed.
- Ability to read English in order to understand instructions, notices, hazards and labels.
- WHMIS certification is required.
Physical Demands
- Involves repetitive arm, hand and finger movement.
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 100 lb., pushing, crouching, bending, kneeling, stair and reaching.
- Daily stair and ladder climbing, occasional exposure to noise, fumes, hazardous chemicals, dust, animal dander and changes in temperature.
- Adequate visual acuity, sense of smell and sense of touch are required
