Position Overview :
The Mechanical Designer plays a critical role within the Engineering team, working on assigned projects that involve detailed design and production drawings.
Reporting directly to the lead engineer, the designer will be responsible for ensuring that designs adhere to industry standards and manufacturing methods.
A strong understanding of ANSI drawing standards, geometric tolerances, and manufacturing processes is essential. The Mechanical Designer will also be instrumental in developing and refining drawing control procedures and company standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Generate innovative concepts for various components.
- Create detailed manufacturing designs and production drawings.
- Develop and manage engineering Bills of Materials (BOM) within the ERP system.
- Utilize SolidWorks to create and maintain 3D models.
- Establish and maintain standard toolbox libraries for 3D models.
- Ensure strict control of drawings in accordance with company procedures.
- Enhance drawing control procedures and improve standard practices within the company.
- Set up software systems to ensure standardized drawing formats and model generation.
- Maintain part records and engineering BOMs in the ERP system.
- Review and check drawings as assigned.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe work environment.
- Use appropriate protective clothing, devices, and equipment as required for various tasks.
- Complete all applicable quality records accurately.
- Perform work in accordance with documented policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required by the team.
Basic Qualifications :
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience in machining or fabrication.
- 2-5 years of experience in creating manufacturing drawings for fabrication and assembly.
- Familiarity with machine and component layout.
- Strong knowledge of industry-standard fittings, materials, fasteners, sealing components, and other standard parts.
- 2-5 years of experience with SolidWorks, specifically for layout and manufacturing drawings.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods; proficient in using computers and office equipment; good vision and hearing for communication and office tasks.
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with production staff and vendors.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Formal training or practical experience with MRP software.
