Salary Range : $31.56- $33.28
Location : Riverview, Coquitlam
Under the direction of the Director of Cottage / Transitional Housing Program, in a manner consistent with the Coast’s mission, philosophy, policies and objectives, the position is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the home programs such as cooking, cleaning, maintenance tasks by engaging the residents in daily life skills activities, medication administration all based on the psycho social rehabilitation principles.
You will further identify and support residents to access community resources and services.

Job Qualifications
- Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Community Social Service
- Recent, related experience of two years Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
- A valid B.C Class 5 Driver’s license
- Ability to obtain the following upon hire : Certificates in First Aid + CPRWHMIS Ministry of Justice Criminal Record ClearanceTB Clearance (done within past 6 months)Foodsafe
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to work with people with a mental illness.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
- Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
- Ability and willingness to understand and work with adults who have been found not criminally responsible on account of a mental disorder.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
- Life skills training and experience.
- Good organizational and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups.

Coast Mental Health (Coast) is one of the largest mental health non-profit societies in Canada, and operates a large array of innovative housing and community based rehabilitation services for people with a mental illness living in and around Vancouver.
Coast operates in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia providing approximately 1000 people with supportive housing and 4000 clients living in the community with a wide variety of programs and services.
