Right now we’re looking for a Temporary Full-time Senior Pharmacy Technician to work in our Pharmacy Services Department.
Responsibilities :
In collaboration with the Automation Supervisor the SPT does the following :
- Plans, co-ordinates, and organizes the daily work assignments for the Pharmacy Technicians optimizing resources in an efficient and productive manner.
- Provides leadership to the technicians in coaching and mentoring as needed
- Provides operational support to the technicians and pharmacists on drug distribution issues.
- Coordinates the orientation and training of new staff and students.
- Responsible for computer maintenance as related to the procurement of pharmaceuticals, and for the purchasing of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
- Using established department guidelines, maintains the pharmaceutical inventory and formulary
- Coordinates efficient procurement of pharmaceuticals and the Fiscal Year-End Physical Inventory counts.
Requirements :
- Completion of a recognized Community College Pharmacy Technician course or equivalent required.
- Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required (RPh.T designation)
- 5 years Pharmacy Technician experience in a Hospital Pharmacy setting required
- Knowledge and experience in aseptic technique; CIVA experience an asset
- Knowledge and experience in leader role (i.e. member of a hospital committee, training staff ), an asset
- Preference given to familiarity with Meditech and workload measurement software
- Experience with purchasing and inventory management, narcotic requirements, manufacturing an asset
- Demonstrated strong written & verbal communication and inter-personal skills, required
- Computer skills including pharmacy systems software
- Demonstrated ability to function in a team and as an independent practitioner
- Canadian association of technicians, an asset
- Highly developed critical thinking, practical problem solving, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated teaching and evaluation skills
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and interest in developing others
- Knowledge of customer service and quality orientation
- Familiar with federal and provincial drug schedules
- Unit dose and / or IV additives experience preferred.
- Effective negotiation and conflict management / resolution skills.
- Ability to differentiate between brand and generic drug names.
- Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
