We are seeking a motivated and experienced Construction Electrician for construction projects across British Columbia. This role is critical in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in various settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Applicants should have a deep understanding of electrical systems, safety standards, and compliance with the BC Electrical Code, and should be proficient in English (bilingualism in French is an asset).
Job Overview
The Construction Electrician will work closely with site supervisors and other tradespeople to ensure all electrical systems are properly installed, safe, and efficient.
This role requires problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Installation of Electrical Systems : Install wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, and lighting fixtures in line with blueprints and specifications.
- System Maintenance and Repairs : Diagnose electrical issues and conduct repairs to ensure optimal performance.
- Compliance and Safety : Work in strict compliance with the BC Electrical Code and safety protocols.
- Use of Tools and Testing Equipment : Employ diagnostic tools, including ohmmeters and voltmeters, for accurate system troubleshooting.
- Collaboration : Coordinate with other trades and contractors to integrate electrical components into broader building systems.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate logs of work performed, materials used, and ensure all work meets regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Certification : Red Seal Certification or Journeyman Electrician Certification in British Columbia.
- Experience : 2-3+ years of experience as an electrician in construction.
- Technical Skills : Proficiency in reading blueprints and electrical diagrams.
- Knowledge of Codes : Extensive knowledge of BC Electrical Code and local regulations.
- Physical Stamina : Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications in safety protocols or specific systems like high-voltage.
- Experience with specialized systems, including HVAC and renewable energy systems (solar or wind).
- Bilingual proficiency in French.
