Recreation Assistant (Temporary Part Time for approximately 11 months)

Position Overview :

Recreation assistants play a key role in supporting the successful delivery ofa wide variety of recreation and leisure programs in the community.

Responsibilities :

  • Delivers equipment to various locations. Ensures new equipment purchases are recorded for inventory. Sanitizes and inspects existing equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Organizes fitness / other equipment storage rooms before the start of a new session.
  • Visits various locations to monitor programs and connect with program staff and / or volunteers. Reportsany concerns to the Program Coordinator for appropriate follow-up.
  • Provides support, and occasionally attends volunteer-led programs to ensure an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Ensure evaluations are completed for each program at the end of eachsession.
  • Monitors program attendance and conductsfollow-up with participants to determine their ongoing interest.
  • Assists Program Coordinators to develop and implement volunteer appreciation initiatives.
  • Assists in the implementation ofspecial program events.
  • Assists Program Coordinator in the implementation of wellness and educationalworkshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Minimum level of education completion of secondary school education (or the equivalent).
  • Must be able to lift 35lbsunassisted.
  • Access to reliable transportation for the duration of employment
  • Minimum 3 months of related experience.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
