Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Anti-Infectives and Ophthalmology

Job Description & Key responsibilities :

XEDITON is currently seeking MSLs to cover Canada. The MSLs will function as key scientific resources for Canadian ID Specialists, Microbiologists.

Critical Care physicians, Clinical Pharmacists and Ophthalmologists. Some of your responsibilities will include responding to requests for in-depth, innovative scientific information in the field of Infectious Diseases and ophthalmology , including the most recent findings from scientific conferences, publications in scholarly journals, and Xediton's pipeline.

You will also be responsible for gathering insights from external experts and the environment to support Xediton’s overall strategy.

This position will also support the medical business on the execution of key educational tactics. The role will work directly with the cross-functional teams to coordinate, execute and lead the tactical medical education plans.

Ideal Candidate Location : Toronto

Specific responsibilities and deliverables include :

  • Identify, establish, and maintain scientific peer-to-peer relationships with key external experts in Infectious Diseases and ophthalmology through providing scientific exchange and driving impact for patients with the highest industry standards following Xediton values, policies, standards, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Be the scientific field-based expert in Infectious Diseases and Ophthalmology in the territory and maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of diseases, treatments, and the competitive landscape to ensure excellent scientific dialogue and clinical knowledge translation.
  • Be agile and adaptable to provide value across a continuum of both internal and external stakeholders in a non-promotional manner and be responsive to unsolicited scientific and medical information inquires.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the healthcare community within your territory and the internal Xediton teams to gather insights that inform current and future business strategies.
  • Attend and provide scientific support at medical exhibits and scientific sessions at regional, national, and international medical conferences as needed.
  • Provide scientific training for Xediton field staff regarding Xediton products and the conditions they treat utilizing approved sales training materials
  • Initiate and oversee the planning, development & implementation of innovative, strategically aligned accredited, non-accredited and / or co-developed educational initiatives with physician associations, vendors, and Key Opinion Leaders
  • Partner across brands to build valuable educational programs aligned to our strategic direction.
  • Partner with the relevant Medical and Marketing Managers for development and implementation.
  • Work closely with the cross-functional teams, especially Medical to ensure scientific leadership in content and with Sales to ensure optimal field implementation
  • Supports In-field medical education activities by coordinating and supporting field staff in the execution of events

Skills & Qualification

The successful candidate is a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic team player who is resourceful and dedicated and has competencies in adapting to changing environments.

Minimum qualifications :

  • An advanced post-graduate scientific degree (MD, Ph.D., PharmD) and strong fluency in English (scientific and technical) is required.
  • Previous experience in Infectious Diseases and ophthalmology in a medical affairs position with established relationships / connections with associated healthcare professionals is preferred.
  • Previous experience in Medical Education is preferred
  • Exceptional aptitude to apply and leverage scientific and medical information while establishing scientific credibility through peer-to-peer discussion and debate is essential.
  • Excellent public speaker, with outstanding scientific presentation skills
  • Excellent people skills with a focus on teamwork and strategic execution of medical affairs plan in your respective territory.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing medical information exchange with healthcare professionals within the Canadian pharmaceutical environment.
  • Sound negotiation, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and ability to travel throughout the territory up to 20%
  • Demonstrated track record of successful facilitation of educational programs.
  • Highly energetic team player with a strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Creative, resourceful, organized, adaptable, self-motivated and independent
  • Strong attention to detail, prioritization, organization, and project management skills required
  • Demonstrated abilities in the following areas : managing complexity, effective communication, and time management skills
  • Proven examples of high learning agility and critical thinking in the development of educational projects is preferred
  • Role requires strong understanding of medical education in Pharma in Canada
  • High energy, self-motivated, and results-oriented
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence.
  • French language proficiency is an asset

Salary : $80,000 to $90,000
