As the District Sales Manager for Fraser Valley, who has teams that are working in Walmart stores across the Lower Mainland, it is your responsibility to ensure your assigned district delivers excellence in customer experience and operations, supporting the OSL brand, adding value for our client, and meeting collective business objectives.
Reporting directly to the Regional Vice-President of Western Canada, the District Sales Manager will lead by example and always create an environment where staff feel valued, can see opportunities for growth, and can function well as a team.
You will primarily be responsible for leading and coaching a strong sales team within the Walmart departments- Wireless, Consumer Electronics, and Photocentre.
Responsibilities :
- Accomplish multi-product sales performance and operational objectives by recruiting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and managing the performance of employees within the district.
- Ensure you and your team are current on all operational guidelines, sales objectives, and product knowledge.
- Proactively create strategies to recognize high-performing locations and motivate underperforming locations.
- Empower your Wireless Managers with effective management skills and guide and coach the teams in building realistic action plans tailored to each team member.
- Ensure all locations are staffed appropriately- support the hiring process of employees in all locations.
- Follow proper procedures for onboarding and offboarding all employees as outlined by the Operations and Human Resources teams.
- Lead by example and create an open-door environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration within your team and peer groups.
- Know your leaders : Get to know each store manager and their teams to continuously build on and improve communication and expectations in each location.
- Act with professionalism and integrity.
Candidate Requirements :
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to train and manage employees.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal and customer service skills to work with others, motivate employees, and assign work as required.
- Strong management, coaching, and leadership skills developed in a retail organization; in the wireless or electronics sectors considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of multi-unit experience is preferred; in wireless or electronics sectors considered an asset.
- Ability to proactively recruit, interview, and hire team members and strategically build a team with a supporting succession plan.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively direct and motivate a variety of team members.
- Detail-oriented and results-focused with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities with a demonstrated sense of urgency.
- Advanced organization and future-planning skills with the ability to organize and schedule people and tasks.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Computer aptitude with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Understanding of merchandising in a retail environment, knowledge of MODs (Planograms), and adherence to floor plans.
- Proven ability to manage district fiscal budgets, forecast sales, and analyze retail metrics.
- Capable of setting and communicating numerical and task-oriented goals for your team.
- Flexible to work with your team including availability to support traditional retail hours, some holidays, and evenings / weekends based on the business needs.
