Job Description
DNV's - Energy Systems North America Region is seeking a Senior Hydraulics and Leak Detection Engineer to work in the Hydraulics and Flow Assurance group in the Advisory Services Department in Midstream / Downstream & Labs service area.
This team of engineering consultants specializes in hydraulic and flow assurance modeling including single phase steady state and transient hydraulics analysis (Synergi Pipeline Simulator) as well as, multiphase thermal and hydraulic steady state and transient analysis.
The Senior Engineer will be responsible for the initiation, development, and completion of leak detection (LD) studies for DNV clients, including helping them determine appropriate LD technology for their needs, assessing and tuning their current LD systems, carrying out LD compliance reviews, and analyzing new LD technology for certification.
This person will also be involved in transient hydraulics and flow assurance studies. In addition, the senior engineer will participate in the innovative work the team is doing with hydrogen and carbon capture projects.
This role is based at our DNV office in Calgary, AB presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location / site.

What You'll Do :
- Carry out Leak Detection and Hydraulics & Flow Assurance studies using software packages, e.g., SPS, Synergi Gas, Synergi Water, LIQT, AFT Fathom, OLGA, etc.
- Compile data received from pipeline operators and deciding the appropriate methodologies and calculations to solve issue at hand.
- Audit and review existing pipeline facilities to identify improvement opportunities, potential problems, and remedies to existing problems
- Work effectively and efficiently within a group of engineers and consultants, reviewing, and verifying each other's work.
- Engage in business development with both new and existing customers
- Modeling pipeline systems and associated facilities from upstream, midstream to downstream.
- Document processes and procedures in a technical format to clearly deliver results and the implications of those results to the pipeline operator.
- Direct a group of engineers through project management.
- Interact with other team members and clients in a manner that is professional and promotes collaboration.
- Prepare technical papers or presentations of innovative work or projects.
- Attend technical seminars to increase understanding of the pipeline industry and new technologies as well as to develop projects
- Train, mentor, and support junior engineers and co-op students

Qualifications
What is Required :
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university
- Five (5) to 10 years of related experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, excellent technical writing abilities, adept at problem-solving, strong critical thinking skills, quick to grasp technical concepts
- Minimum of Five (5) years' experience within field of leak detection and pipeline hydraulics
- Expertise in single and multiphase pipelines hydraulic simulation. Steady state and transient hydraulic analyses using industry standard software, e.
g., SPS, Synergi Gas, Synergi Liquid, AFT Fathom, and OLGA
- Specific expertise in leak detection systems of liquid and gas lines
- Capable of engaging with various industry clients to discuss DNV's services and strengths
- Detail-oriented, self-driven, diligent, excellent interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and proactive attitude
- Able to collaborate efficiently within a team, but also be able to show effectiveness when working alone.
- Able to handle fast pace, high demand environments with strong stress management skills
- Seek opportunities to help team members with demanding project schedules and expectations
- Willingness and ability to travel up to no more than 15% of the time.

What is Preferred :
- Master of Science in Engineering from an accredited university
