Summary :
Under the direction of the General Foreman, the Heavy Equipment Operator - Haul Truck Operator is responsible for the operation of a mining / off-highway truck in a safe, productive, and efficient manner on a mining site or Civil Construction worksite according to the scope of the project and the work being performed.
The operator will also keep clean and maintain the equipment and comply with all policies and procedures in the operation and securement of the equipment.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment / pre-access testing.
Key Focus :
- Operate a mining / off-highway haul truck to move materials during mining or construction related project operations and activities.
- Conduct pre-operational checks an equipment, maintaining and cleaning the truck as necessary at the end of every shift.
- Accept instructions from the General Foreman or Project Superintendent as directed, and adjust work and strategy according to changing conditions, policies, and procedures as needed.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, provide suggestions for improvement and safety.
- Advise Team Lead or Shift Supervisor of any required maintenance or repairs of the equipment.
- Advise Management of any required maintenance or repairs.
- Maintain a safe disposition at all times; ensure the safety of the client sites as well as the safety of fellow employees / drivers.
- Comply with all policies, procedures, and requirements as laid out by the client at all times while on the worksite.
- Perform any related and / or additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements :
- Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.
- Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license is required
- 3 year clean Drivers Abstract is required
- Specific experience in driving / operating a haul truck or verifiable hours is needed.
- CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is required
- Focus oriented, with a strong attention to detail.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to speak, write and read English is required
This is a temporary position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the Kearl Oil Sands Site
Work schedule : 14 days on, 7 days off; days and nights. hour shift
