Senior Engineer, DevOps / Cloud

Opportunity Snapshot

Join us as a Senior Engineer, DevOps / Cloud, and become an integral part of the team enhancing and maintaining Pixieset’s infrastructure.

In this role, you will provision, configure, and monitor our services, focusing on improving technology operations through initiatives like continuous deployment and testing.

You’ll work with systems built on Ubuntu, PHP, MySQL, Redis, and various AWS products, supporting high-availability, large-scale, and mission-critical services.

Your expertise in monitoring, redundancy, fault-tolerance, and disaster recovery at scale will be crucial for success.

We believe that DevOps is a mindset, not just a role. This means that we’re not looking for someone to be the go-to person for all cloud / infrastructure matters.

Instead, we want someone who can establish, demonstrate, and teach the foundation and best practices to our full stack development teams, enabling them to build upon and grow.

If you’re passionate about making an impact in a dynamic and innovative environment, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

Your Impact

  • Support our engineering team in delivering high-quality and bug-free features by providing reliable and efficient DevOps solutions
  • Coach, mentor, and empower fellow DevOps engineers, developers, and testers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration
  • Create and document efficient processes that facilitate quick onboarding for team members, ensuring a seamless integration into our workflows
  • Write robust infrastructure-as-code to automate provisioning, deployment, scaling, and monitoring of services on our AWS cloud infrastructure, contributing to enhanced efficiency and scalability
  • Collaborate with external vendors, playing a key role in infrastructure integrations and finding solutions that align with our objectives and standards
  • Drive automation initiatives, consistently seeking opportunities to enable self-serve capabilities within the team, promoting autonomy and efficiency
  • Continuously share knowledge on best practices, industry trends, and other relevant information to keep the team informed and aligned with the latest advancements

Role Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps / Cloud Engineer / Systems Engineer role or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of web application architecture and patterns in a high-volume, highly available, scalable environment
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Linux-based systems, such as Ubuntu
  • Experience working with AWS products, including EC2, RDS, S3, Cloudfront, VPC, etc.
  • Experience with MySQL
  • Experience working with Docker containers
  • Experience in networking, VPC, security, caching, DNS, CDNs, load balancing, and low-level performance tuning
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, etc.
  • Proficient in using configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages like Python, Ruby, Perl, Shell, etc.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools such as NewRelic, Prometheus, StatsD, etc.
  • Knowledge of role-based access control (RBAC) or identity management best practices for internal users
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, comfortable working with different platforms and code bases, self-motivated, and strong attention to detail
  • AWS Certification is a bonus
