Job Description
Come join our growing project management team and contribute to our success in developing our expertise within CIMA+. We are currently recruiting a Construction Manager to work for a major complex project.
For this position, you will be working daily (5 days) directly in the office project site, which is in Mississauga.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the owner’s oversight activities with respect to construction coordination and inspection
- Work collaboratively with the contractor’s construction management team to coordinate the delivery of the works
- Manage the owner’s construction management team including Deputy Construction Manager and Construction Inspectors for the sub-program
- Provide subject matter expertise with respect to construction management and general project delivery matters
- Support design management to confirm suitability for procurement and construction
- Participate in constructability, scope management, and value engineering reviews during design
- Oversee the contractor’s construction activity to determine and report on whether program specifications are followed
- Actively manage, monitor, and report on the status of the project construction progress and schedule
- Support the commercial process as part of the contractor’s application for payment and invoicing
- Oversee the post-construction process to facilitate handover to operation and conducts warranty reviews
- Perform claims review and recommend steps to resolve claims
- Coordinate with safety, quality, and inspection teams
- Coach, mentor, and support the career development of employees
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in construction management including minimum 10 years in large complex projects of on-site experience
- Experience in managing stakeholder relationships and providing reporting to enable effective decision making
- Strong technical capability in all project phases, including design, planning, construction, operations, and maintenance preferably large program / projects
- Familiarity of working in collaborative project environments and a working knowledge and experience of progressive contracting models including Progressive Design Build and Target Price
- Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills including the ability to facilitate meetings / workshops with groups of stakeholders
