What Is The Opportunity?
Aecon is currently seeking a Senior Estimator to join the GO Rail Expansion (RER) project, located in the Greater Toronto Area.
This transformational project is the largest capital infrastructure project in Ontario’s historic GO Rail Expansion program!
What You'll Do Here :
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing expert guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Utilize your extensive experience in construction estimating across diverse scopes of work, including civil, structures, track, and stations.
- Conduct a comprehensive review of drawings and tender documents to grasp the complete scope of work and submission requirements.
- Demonstrate your expertise in design models and integrated digital delivery (IDD) software for precise project scope evaluation and quantity generation.
- Develop meticulous bills of quantities (BOQ) by leveraging your experience and employing various advanced techniques, including Bluebeam.
- Establish material price lists (derived from BOQs), labor costs per manhour, equipment requirements, and assemble crews while accurately pricing BOQ items.
- Obtain competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising on quality.
- Thoroughly research historical data, such as purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis, benchmarking, and reports, to compile insightful summary reports and establish robust estimating guidelines for the project.
- Maintain meticulous records of working documents as essential backup for estimating figures.
- Provide valuable insights into the design process to ensure a seamless transition from planning to execution.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including project managers and executives, to deliver accurate and comprehensive estimates that align with project objectives.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

What You'll Bring to The Team :
- Over 7 years of hands-on experience as an estimator in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully estimating projects of significant scale and complexity.
- A solid educational foundation with a university degree or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and comprehending complex construction drawings and blueprints.
- In-depth understanding of construction methodologies, contracts, and cost control techniques.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, outstanding communication abilities, and impeccable attention to detail.
- Proven leadership capabilities, enabling you to guide and inspire your team to achieve outstanding results.
- Advanced proficiency in standard Microsoft software (Excel, Word, etc.), with additional experience in Adobe, Visio, and Bluebeam.
- Impeccable time management and organizational skills, ensuring efficiency in time-sensitive situations.
- A results-oriented mindset with an unwavering commitment to quality and excellence.
