As the Data Engineering Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to lead and shape our Data Engineering and Integration Team, contributing directly to our organization’s growth and our commitment to harnessing the power of data analytics.

What You’ll Be Doing

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Lead, manage, and mentor a growing team of Data Engineers
• Foster a cohesive, collaborative and inclusive work environment
• Develop training plans for the technical advancement of your team
• Participate in the hiring, onboarding and training of new employees
• Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide regular performance feedback
• Effectively communicate with business users to elicit and gather requirements for BI projects
• Research, create, and apply effective methods for data mining, data cleansing, and information analysis
• Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, ensuring clear objectives, timelines, and resource allocation

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Qualifications and Requirements :

• BA / BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math or Physics
• Proven ability to lead and provide technical direction to a team of 3+ software developers and or data engineers in a virtual work setting
• Experience mentoring co-op students and recent university graduates
• Must reside in Canada, and have the ability to travel to Cooper Equipment Rental’s Head Office in Mississauga, ON or other locations when required (10% travel time expected)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex technical issues
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities
• Ability to lead and inspire a team, cultivating a culture of innovation and high performance
• Methodical, organized, detail and research oriented
• Automate-everything attitude
• Experience designing and implementing solutions using data analytics technologies and BI platforms
• Experience building data visualizations using tools such as Tableau or Power BI
• Familiar with relational database technologies and database concepts

Nice to have :

• Advanced degree (Master or PhD)
• Database administration experience
• Experience implementing OLTP or OLAP databases
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft-related data technologies (Azure SQL Databases, data lakes, Azure Analysis Services)
• Software development, in particular Python programming experience
• Knowledge of AI & Machine Learning techniques
