Title : Painter and Decorator Industrial

Location : Ontario

Required hours : 6,000 hours per year of Full time employment

Overview :

The Industrial Painter and Decorator is responsible for preparing and applying coatings to surfaces in industrial settings to protect and enhance the appearance of equipment, structures, and machinery.

This role involves working with specialized paints, coatings, and finishes to ensure that industrial surfaces meet safety, aesthetic, and operational standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of surface preparation, coating application techniques, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities :

Surface Preparation :

Prepare industrial surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and priming as necessary.

Ensure surfaces are free of dirt, rust, oil, grease, or other contaminants that may interfere with coating adhesion.

Application of Paint and Coatings :

Apply primers, paints, varnishes, and other protective coatings to industrial equipment, machinery, and structures.

Use a variety of application methods, including spray guns, rollers, brushes, and other specialized equipment.

Apply finishes that meet specific standards for durability, resistance, and appearance.

Safety and Compliance :

Follow all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, goggles, and protective clothing.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to the use and disposal of paints, coatings, and solvents.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to industry best practices and company policies.

Quality Control :

Inspect surfaces and coatings for quality, ensuring the finish is even, smooth, and free of defects.

Perform touch-ups and repairs as needed to maintain a high standard of quality.

Maintenance of Equipment :

Maintain and clean painting equipment, ensuring it is in good working order.

Report any malfunctions or issues with tools and equipment to supervisors for repair or replacement.

Documentation and Reporting :

Keep accurate records of work completed, including materials used, time spent, and any issues encountered.

Report progress to supervisors and address any challenges or delays promptly.

Collaboration and Communication :

Work closely with other team members, including engineers and maintenance personnel, to ensure that painting tasks are coordinated with other activities on-site.

Communicate effectively with clients or supervisors to discuss project requirements, timelines, and expectations.

Qualifications : Education :

Education :

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional technical training or certification in industrial painting or coatings is a plus.

Experience :

Proven experience as a painter and decorator in an industrial, manufacturing, or commercial setting.

Familiarity with industrial-grade paints, coatings, and finishes is preferred.

Experience working with heavy machinery, large structures, or industrial equipment.

Skills :

Ability to work with a variety of painting equipment and techniques, including spray painting, airless spraying, and roller application.

Strong knowledge of surface preparation methods and coating products.

Good attention to detail, ensuring the application is smooth, even, and long-lasting.

Understanding of safety procedures and the ability to work in compliance with industry regulations.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights (e.g., scaffolding or ladders), and stand for long periods.

Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor work or in confined spaces.

Certifications :

Certification in industrial coatings or safety training (e.g., OSHA or equivalent) is a plus.

A valid driver's license may be required for certain projects or locations.
