Description

Parsons is looking for a talented Civil CAD / BIM Manager to join our team! In this role you will get to manage the CAD / BIM team in Western Canada.

The CAD / BIM Group Lead is responsible for supervising all discipline design / drafting personnel on traditional and complex projects.

The CAD / BIM Group Lead will be responsible for managing the team's workload, ensuring that deadlines are met, and maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities :

  • Support the Project Delivery Team(s) in day-to-day BIM implementation activities.
  • Develop BIM documentation at various project stages according to ISO 19650.
  • Record, store, and maintain all formal correspondences related to BIM activities.
  • Support the deployment (hardware and software) and provide hands-on BIM software training for Project team members.
  • Ensure Project Information Model (PIM) are delivered in accordance with the agreed TIDP, MIDP and CDE protocol.
  • Measure and ensure the highest quality for all BIM package submissions in accordance with Project standards and requirements.
  • Review, monitor and report on the development of clash interference and fully coordinated models.
  • Conduct clash detection and visual walkthroughs.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the discipline leads design-changes and model challenges.
  • Support management team with planning and construction activities with proposed 4D sequencing model(s) review and progress reporting.
  • Prepare models and reports for constructability analysis.
  • Validate and export model geometry and data to schedules for internal design and commercial activities.
  • Perform Quality Assurance and Control checks and report deviations of installation with approved coordinated models.
  • Monitor, perform quality checks and report on the quality of as-built models.
  • Monitor and support the data collection process and validate Asset Information Model (AIM) with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) requirements e.

g. Construction Operation Building Information Exchange (COBie) and / or Client Specific requirements.

  • Monitor and validate the as-built model tagging with all related Project documents e.g. the H&S file(s) and O&M Manual(s) etc.
  • Support the setup, development, configuration, establishment of the Common Data Environment (CDE) according to ISO 19650 standards and assume the role of CDE administrator.
  • Defines discipline design organization and participation in a project, including execution of discipline work involving design approach, schedules, standards, budgets, and procedures to meet client scope of work requirements.
  • Makes staffing assignments and monitors productivity and technical proficiency of the assigned personnel.
  • Reviews work produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed, and that quality is acceptable.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Assurance and Control templates following the organizations and Project’s quality procedures and the Project's BIM production methods and standards.
  • Measure and ensure the highest quality for all BIM package submissions in accordance with Project standards and requirements.
  • Perform Quality Assurance and Control checks on models and maintain tracker (both hard and soft copies) to confirm geometrical and non-geometrical information compliance with the Project's design and BIM requirements.
  • Perform Quality Assurance and Control checks and report deviations of CAD Standards and ISO 19650 practices.
  • Provides training and development, conducts performance evaluations, and takes corrective action as necessary.
  • May make recommendations for salary increases and / or promotions.
  • Advises engineering and project management regarding any problem areas, staffing requirements, progress slippage, scope changes, budget overruns, or other events that could negatively affect project completion or profitability.
  • Actively participates in the company Quality Improvement Process (QIP).
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Required Education / Experience / Skills / Competencies and Technical Knowledge :

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited technical institution (or equivalent) is preferred.

A technical degree or certificate of completion in CAD design from an accredited technical institution is required, at minimum.

  • 15 years of experience in supervisory roles within a similar industry.
  • Experience either from a consultant or Contractor Environment on Infrastructure or Rail & Transit projects.
  • Experience with ISO 19650.
  • Proficient in a range of BIM authoring, scripting, design review, coordination, simulations, and collaboration applications and / or platforms e.

g. Revit, Civil 3D, Open Buildings Designer, Dynamo, Grasshopper, Navisworks, Cost X, Synchro, BIM 360, ProjectWise etc. (Insert Specific Requirements)

Canadian experience preferred but not essential.

Salary Range :
