About the role
We are looking for a Rating Systems Programmer-Analyst for our Actuarial - Commercial Lines Systems department, who will play a key role in supporting our growth.
LOCATION : The successful candidate can work at our offices in Montreal (2020 boul. Robert-Bourassa), Saint-Hyacinthe or Toronto, and must work in-office two days a week.
Reporting directly to the Actuarial Manager Commercial Lines Systems, you will program, edit, test and debug algorithms and tables related to rating and underwriting, as requested and within time limits.
You must also be able to evaluate the potential impacts of these changes.
What you’ll do here :
Improve and / or develop algorithms and tables related to rate changes in order to meet user needs. This includes programming, testing, debugging and documenting these changes.
Participate in all steps to ensure project completion by collaborating with and advising users, keeping to deadlines and communicating status reports.
Ensure that systems are optimal and meet business standards by providing analyses, suggestions and evaluations.
Make recommendations to take part in the improvement of system development and maintenance processes.
Apply appropriate programming techniques to ensure data is accurate and valid and to facilitate maintenance for future changes and improvements so that resources are used appropriately.
Work in conjunction with Actuarial and IT.
Be responsible for projects or parts of projects.
What you bring to the table :
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science / Mathematics or another relevant field.
Relevant system programming experience, an asset.
Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry, an asset.
Knowledge of SAS and VBA, an asset.
Good analytical and synthesis skills.
Strong organizational skills.
