The Inside Sales Specialist (ISS) plays a key role in establishing positive first impressions and customer service excellence in laying the groundwork for efficient and accurate order processing and completion.
The primary responsibility of the ISS is to support and partner with the Engineered Wood Product Sales Specialist to develop new customer channels and upsell engineered wood products with existing customers.
We service and sell to companies that range in size from small independent lumber yards to regional building material dealers, and national home improvement chains.
Inside Sales Responsibilities
- Work with EWP Sales Specialist to deliver and maintain programs and services.
- Support customer relationships with an established dealer network by using outstanding service skills and proactive sales techniques.
- Assist with inbound customer inquiries regarding product information and delivery information, as required.
- Respond accurately and efficiently to orders received by phone, fax or e-mail by way of the company’s computerized order system.
- Prompt and accurate entry of credits and returns.
- Work as a liaison between the customer and all internal departments.
Business Development Responsibilities
- Support EWP Sales Specialist through business development presentations, lead generation activities, and customer visits, as required.
- Monitor competitive landscape and industry activity to help drive new business strategies and growth opportunities in conjunction with the EWP Specialist.
- Accountable for data / reporting, analysis and recommendations to support EWP business activities, customer reviews, and marketing plans.
- Accountable for various administrative tasks including shipping, spreadsheet maintenance, inventory management / tracking, and other tasks, as required.
- Participation in Joint Business Planning sessions with key customers and developing fact-based approach to servicing customer network.
- Assist in lead generation for Allied Product Sales as extension of the Inside Sales Team.
Requirements
Sales
- Excellent customer service skills and professional telephone manner.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate customer needs.
- Comfortable with conducting outbound phone calls to existing customers.
- Minimum three years of sales or customer service experience.
- Certified Sales Professionals (CSP) designation is desirable.
Technical
- Able to quickly learn technical information specific to the building industry
- Working knowledge of wood frame residential construction is an asset
- Ability to read blue prints and experience with CAD software would be an asset.
- Must be highly organized with solid presentation and analytical skills.
Other
- Proficient with Excel, Word, and Outlook; good keyboarding and computer skills.
- Aptitude for numerical calculations.
- Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal with an ability to influence sales over the phone and in person.
- An intrinsically motivated self-starter that takes a collaborative and proactive approach to servicing customers’ needs, solving problems, and establishing positive professional relationships.
EDUCATION
- Post-secondary education in business or building industry preferred
- High school graduation is a requirement
- Formal sales training is desirable
LINGUISTIC REQUIREMENTS
Bilingual (French and English) is a requirement
