Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Security, Risk Management and Warehouse Services, supervising the Creative Zone, Warehouse Operations, Courier Services, Ministry Products for Distribution and PPE Distribution to ensure all 274 Peel District School Board schools & sites are centrally supported.

Facilitate three to six complex moves for schools’ relocations each school year. Recommend any system changes as well as equipment purchases for warehouse operations within a 20,000 square foot facility.

Supervise 1 warehouse staff member, 2 creative zone staff and one volunteer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all courier services for 274 schools and satellite locations, ensuring timely deliveries, managing six routes and managing relocations as well as daily truck and expedited van deliveries.
  • Manage furniture moves through an online system where schools can request surplus items, playing a key role in driving cost efficiency and reducing waste by facilitating the redistribution of reusable resources.
  • Oversee inventory management and shipment of essential supplies for all board schools while ensuring the safe storage of board assets in collaboration with various departments.
  • Monitor the inventory and distribution of PPE resources for around 20,000 employees, ensuring compliance with health guidelines, managing hazardous waste disposal, and administering the removal of expired PPEs.
  • Manage a 5,000-square-foot Creative Zone space to secure new acquisitions and facilitate recycling of surplus materials, providing free furniture and arts supplies to over 500 teaching staff monthly through an online request system.
  • Supervise the loading areas for receiving from the Ministries urgent orders and shipping goods, by unpacking and sorting items for school distribution several times a year.
  • Oversee the inventory and tracking of short-term rental items, ensuring the system operates smoothly and that inventory is maintained and replenished as needed.
  • Manage the warehouse budget and resources, develop courier service budgets, assess inventory trends, evaluate external contracts, administer the budget for hazardous PPE disposal and recommending hiring and contract management decisions

Qualifications

  • College diploma or equivalent business management / operations experience in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of knowledge and experience of school board operations.
  • Ability and willingness to pursue courses such as Health & Safety and Forklift.
  • Proven strengths in customer service, teamwork, initiative, self-management, and adaptability.
  • Excellent skills in organization, administration and time management.
  • Advanced computer proficiency in MS Office, especially in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and FIS, is essential.
