IT Manager

On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking an accomplished IT Manager for a permanent full-time role in Calgary, AB.

IT Manager Assistant - Job Details

Provide a robust technology platform that enhances collaboration and efficiency, leveraging technology to gain a competitive edge in the market.

You will advise and make decisions on technology that will elevate business performance, ensuring the delivery of innovative capabilities to support current and future business needs.

This versatile role includes both strategic leadership and hands-on involvement, ensuring seamless operation of our technology infrastructure while driving growth through strategic initiatives.

IT Manager - Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior management and Managed Service Providers (Tecbound, Kraft Kennedy, etc.) to develop IT vision, strategy, budget management, security, governance, risk & compliance, business relationship management, and stakeholder management.
  • Evaluate current processes and initiate changes towards an improved structure where necessary.
  • Develop and oversee the annual operating and capital expenditure budget for IT infrastructure.
  • Build and manage vendor relationships to achieve mutual benefits and optimal delivery outcomes.
  • Establish and implement long-term goals, policies, standards, and procedures to ensure proper governance and compliance.
  • Oversee team performance to ensure SLAs and commitments to the business are met or exceeded.
  • Foster a high-performance culture and excellent service within the IT department, including : Clearly communicating business and team strategy and vision.

Managing IT department staff performance. Enhancing cohesion and service commitment within the department. Reviewing and approving timesheets / expenses.

Applying progressive discipline as necessary. Assisting IT Help Desk staff with ticket management and resolution. Performing other duties as required.

IT Manager - Mandatory Skills

  • Over 5 years of progressive IT management experience, preferably in a law firm or similar professional services environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing and developing solutions with Microsoft 365 (Office 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint) and Microsoft Cloud Services (Azure).
  • Proven ability to develop and implement IT strategies, manage budgets, and ensure security and compliance.
  • Strong project management skills, particularly with large-scale technology implementations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with both technical staff and firm stakeholders.
  • A passion for technology with a history of introducing innovative solutions that have a significant business impact.

IT Manager - Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with LLM and AI platforms would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with Legal Practice Management Software (Elite 3E or similar such as Aderant, Accuming) and Document Management Systems (NetDocuments or similar such as Worldox, iManage) would be advantageous.
  • ITSM certifications (ITIL, etc.) would also be considered beneficial.
