Duties
Complete maintenance tasks using all required tools and materiel to complete the tasks for the bases assigned aircraft.
Conducting scheduled aircraft inspections in accordance with approved procedures.
Troubleshooting and rectifying unscheduled ac unserviceabilities in accordance with approved procedures.
Exercising and documenting in accordance with Canadian Airline Regulators (CAR's) and the Aircraft Services Directorate (ASD) Maintenance Control Manual (MCM) the nature and extent of all maintenance conducted on ASD aircraft in the appropriate technical records.
Certifying maintenance release for all maintenance tasks that the individual either completed or supervised.
Working with pilots, Vancouver based personnel, ASD HQ personnel to manage and schedule maintenance operations.
Submitting safety and service difficulty issues to the Safety Management System in a clear and concise manner.
Liaise with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) personnel to solicit clarification regarding maintenance procedures when not clear or published.
Support ASD’s QA assurance programme by participating in and addressing observations in order to support the continuous improvement of ASD’s maintenance practices.
As an ASD AME, the employee is required to maintain an AME licence, obtain and maintain their ASD Aircraft Certifying Authority (ACA), and be capable of deploying independently to support single aircraft operations.

Intent of the process

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
EDUCATION :
Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary school program in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION :
Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer category License M1 and / or M2.
EXPERIENCE :
Recent and significant* experience as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, category M1 and / or M2, maintaining fixed wing aircraft.
Definition of significant and recent experience :
- Significant experience means at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Recent is defined as within the last 4 years.

EXPERIENCE :
Maintenance type training and / or experience maintaining one or more of the following aircraft types :
- King Air Series
- De Havilland Dash-8 Series
Team leader experience leading a team of AME’s in aircraft line or overhaul maintenance.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
Willingness and ability to undertake training to maintain or upgrade knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Willingness and ability to work in a flexible environment on a variable day work and / or shift work schedule, including weekends and some standby on the employee’s days of rest.
Conditions of employment
Secret security clearance
Possession of a valid driver’s licence.
Possession of a valid Canadian Passport.
Willing and able to work shifts and overtime on short notice during the week or on weekends.
Willingness and ability work in various positions on aircraft and in the hangar, which may involve standing, kneeling, lying, and sitting as well as crawling into confined spaces and climbing elevated maintenance stands.
Willingness to perform flight engineer duties on aircraft operating away from base.
