About the Opportunity
Alstar has an exciting opportunity for multiple Structural Welders (Shop) - Journeyman / Apprentice to work at our SE Calgary location (not transit accessible) in our Structural Steel Department.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for performing welding operations and working primarily on the shop floor.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Operating basic hand tools and powered tools (e.g., drills, disc grinders)
- Setting up workstations efficiently for project execution in the shop
- Utilizing equipment according to company procedures
- Ensuring safety and compliance with established procedures
- Maintaining housekeeping standards for a clean work environment
- Reporting equipment issues promptly for servicing or repair
- Executing general tasks assigned by the supervisor
- Accurately completing timesheets to track work hours
- Actively supporting quality and safety programs
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have at least 6 months of experience in Structural Welding. First to third-year apprentices with relevant qualifications will be considered.
The following skills and experience will be strong assets :
- Journeyman Certification
- Hold certifications in CSTS-20 / CSO, WHMIS 2015, and Fall Protection
- CWB Flux Core Flat position minimum certification required
- CWB tickets for MCAW and FCAW welding processes needed
- Essential to have prior experience in the oil and gas industry
- Strong knowledge of safety rules and regulations
- Skilled in various welding techniques and processes
- Fitting experience (asset)
