We are looking to hire an experienced, detailed-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our Payroll team. This is a Permanent Full-time position based at our head office, located in Edmonton.
This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll operations for multiple payrolls. This role requires a thorough understanding of payroll practices and compliance with all applicable employment and tax laws in Canada and Alberta specifically.

The key responsibilities include the following :
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis for multiple companies within the group, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations and filings including CPP, EI, and income tax.
- Administer employee benefit plans (group insurance, accidental death insurance) including enrolment, revisions, terminations.
- Provide support for fiscal year-end reconciliation.
- Process yearly T4’s, bonuses and other allowances for the various payrolls when applicable.
- Maintain and update payroll and benefits records, including leave of absences, departures, deductions, and other payroll-related changes.
- Coordinate with HR and finance departments to ensure seamless payroll integration with other company processes.
- Handle employee queries related to payroll and benefits issues and provide accurate guidance.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on payroll activities and discrepancies.
- Continuously improve processes and systems related to payroll administration.
- Provide support to the accounting department and management as required
Qualifications & Experience :
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate would be beneficial.
- A minimum of five years Payroll experience is required.
- Must be competent in using computer software related to payroll and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now would be considered an asset.
- Must be able to work independently and prioritize tasks and projects as needed.
- Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with high attention to detail.
- Must be able to demonstrate respectful and professional communication at all times.
