Senior Data Architect / Modeller
Pay range C$ - C$ / day
The project team previously completed Pre-Discovery.
- The current stage has phases as follows :
- Phase - Business Discovery including detailed summaries of the Current Mode of Operations (CMO) and Future Mode of Operations (FMO).
- Phase Data Discovery including documentation of data journey / flows
- Discovery work is well underway and expected to be completed by Fall .
- The Ministry is seeking to address pain points (such as disparate datasets) by introducing business process automation and integration to eliminate manual steps and provide easy access to shared information for all users / program areas under a modern end-to-end application or suite with users at the center.
- Overall, the solution will support quality data, integration, analytics, and visualization capabilities.
- Data architecture / data modeler skills are also required for the second phase of the project to review existing data sets and develop a proposed Conceptual Data Model that is technology- and application-independent and demonstrates the Future Mode of Operations (FMO) business processes from a stakeholder perspective.
Job Responsibilities :
- Senior Data Architect / Modeller develops and implements the data architecture for application development in a complex and distributed environment, including the determination of the flow and distribution of data, the location of databases, and data access methods.
- Provides a standard common business vocabulary, expresses strategic data requirements, outlines high-level integrated designs to meet these requirements, and aligns with the enterprise strategy and related business architecture.
Must Haves :
- Experience as Data Modeller- + years
- Knowledge and experience in information resource management tools and techniques
- Experience with at least two different platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, languages, and communications protocols
- Knowledge of performance considerations for different database designs in different environments
- Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development, and implementation of applications
- Experience in systems analysis and design in large or medium systems environments
- Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools for the development and documentation of data architectures and detailed data models
- Experience in the use of data modeling methods and tools ( ERWIN, VISIO, PowerDesigner) including a working knowledge of metadata structures, repository functions, and data dictionaries
Mandatory Skills (%) :
- Knowledge and experience in information resource management tools and techniques

Desirable Skills (%) :
- Experience with middleware and gateways
- Experience in designing / developing an automated data distribution mechanism

- Experience creating detailed data standards to enable integration with other systems
- Experience reviewing conceptual, logical, and physical data models for quality and adherence to standards Knowledge and understanding of dimensional and relational data models

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (clear & concise. Presentation skills to present information and findings, options, and recommendations to clients, project / technical team members, and management audiences

- Persistent attention to detail

- Project rescue / project triage experience is an asset
Public Sector Experience (%) :
- Previous experience working in Government or Public Sector organizations
- Demonstrated experience in the Ontario Design System
- Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables ( models) based on Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture processes and practice
