Shipping Manager - Montreal (12-month contract)
Position Purpose
The objective of the position is to plan, organize, control and coordinate activities related to the shipping department at the Montreal plant.
Responsibilities
- Supervise both the team and department that handle shipping and warehousing finished goods.
- Plan, organize, control and coordinate operations related to the arrival and departure of trailers / containers.
- Count and verify all imports of finished goods.
- Deal with CRA agents, all inspections and questions when we have to destroy or export finished goods
- Ensure that inventories of finished goods are accurate.
- Conduct quality control of finished goods and verify production every day.
- Together with the Logistics team, carry out SAP maintenance that impacts the movement of virtual inventory between the plant and the warehouses.
- Analyze and implement corrective measures to improve the shipping process.
- Coordinate / optimize production plans with partners (order close-out, critical goods, month-end procedures, etc.)
- In collaboration with the Market, support production operations related to packaging image changes, government legislation and the introduction of new products.
- Coordinate exports of tobacco materials (tobacco / tobacco dust) from the MTL plant to other JTI plants
- Maintain the communication channel between the plant and the departments (Logistics, Finance, etc.)
- Support the Manufacturing Services & Logistics team.
Qualifications and experience
- College degree in management operation.
- 5 years in production planning and supervision.
- Experience in a unionized manufacturing sector (an asset).
- Good knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of SAP (an asset).
Skills, competencies and languages
- Excellent communication skills.
- Team spirit, leadership, ability to mobilize others, and a sense of initiative.
- Excellent command of French and English, both written and spoken.
- Comfortable working on the shop floor.
- Highly organized.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards is an asset.
