Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (Boost CYAC) is situated on the traditional territories of the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, who have been the traditional caretakers of this land for thousands of years.

This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee that bound them to share the territory and protect the land.

Organizational Overview

Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (Boost CYAC) is a registered charity that provides a range of services to children, youth and families, who have experienced abuse or violence, within the City of Toronto and parts of the Central Ontario.

We provide individual, group, family and community services that include trauma counselling, advocacy and support services during child abuse investigations, court support and accompaniment services and abuse and violence prevention materials and trainings.

Boost CYAC is accredited by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation, an independent non-profit organization that offers accreditation specifically tailored to community-based health and social services across Canada.

Role Overview

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Clinical Director will be accountable for the strategic leadership and operational oversight of Boost CYAC's assessment and therapeutic services, data and quality assurance and accreditation.

Areas of oversight include, but are not limited to, operational planning, program development, service delivery oversight, community and funder relations, clinical and administrative supervision and performance management, data analysis and reporting, evaluations and quality improvement.

Direct reports will include a team of Child & Family Therapists, the Research and Knowledge Mobilization Lead and the Data and Quality Coordinator.

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Social Work or Psychology, or equivalent related education; previous training and / or experience in organizational and change management will be considered an asset.
  • Registration with a professional governing body such as Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Services Workers (RSW), College of Psychologists of Ontario or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (RP), or the equivalent as determined by the President & CEO.
  • Minimum of 10 (ten) years of related clinical experience with at least five (5) years held at a management level providing clinical supervision;

experience in a children and youth mental health setting preferred.

  • Demonstrated track record of influencing and executing on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategies, Anti-Oppressive Practice and Anti- Black Racism to affect organizational and program change.
  • Clinical training and experience that is inclusive of knowledge (such as Anti-Black Racism, Indigenous modalities of treatment and sensitivity to cultural, religious beliefs and gender identity) that addresses the diversity and complexity of individuals and families served.
  • Sound knowledge of trauma focused evidence-informed / based practices, program evaluation methods and tools.
  • Training and knowledge in quality improvements processes, frameworks and methodologies. (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Model for Improvement), change management, risk management, project management and statistical analysis.
  • Experience leading quality improvement initiatives, preferably in a social services or community mental health care setting.
  • Experience in leading projects, establishing project plans, assigning tasks and evaluating deliverables within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of data governance principles, data management, and experience with collection, tracking, submission and reporting of data.
  • Experience writing grants and funding applications for government and / or private donors / foundations, acting as a liaison for municipal, provincial and federal government funders and private donors and executing on approved funding contracts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to lead and establish positive and collaborative partnerships and relations with all key stakeholders : clients, families, staff, community partners.
  • Sound knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017, the child protection system, the Toronto area social service / children's mental health system.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team, and conflict resolution skills that incorporates inclusive leadership practices. Ability to carry and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

Clinical Services

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of assessment and therapeutic services.
  • Manage a group of clinical employees by providing supportive supervision, training, performance management, and case management / client support services.
  • Evaluate and review assessment and treatment plans, end of service summaries, incident reports and clients' notes. Manage client data system, including oversight of training and improvements.

Prior experience with EMHware would be considered an asset.

  • Recommend and implement program change processes through a lens of diversity, inclusion, and equity, utilizing best practices and research, service user feedback, appropriate evaluation processes, and strategic goals.
  • Provide training and inclusive leadership with respect to use of competency-based and evidence-informed best practices that are appropriate for diverse communities and informed by community needs.
  • Work inclusively with internal programs to promote cross team collaboration, learning and training.
  • Work as part of the Boost CYAC Joint Management Team (which includes partner agencies) to develop and coordinate clinical services to children, youth and families.
  • Complete all administration for provincial and federal service-related funding, address donor and private foundation requests, prepare funding applications, develop service contracts and, and execute on approved funding contracts.
  • Serve as one of Boost CYAC's key spokespeople and ensures that Boost CYAC and its mission is consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders and the public

Quality and Data

  • Oversee the development and implementation of a Quality Management framework and plan to guide quality improvement goals and initiative across the organization.
  • Oversee annual Quality Improvement Projects across the organization, ensuring projects are identified, approved, planned and implemented with clear timelines, work plans and deliverables
  • Ensure annual data management plans are created, implemented, modified to reflect the organizations Strategic and Operational Plans.

Accreditation

  • Ensure that Accreditation tasks, responsibilities and deliverables are project managed by the Data / Quality Coordinator, over the 4-year accreditation cycle.
  • Support the Data / Quality Coordinator to ensure the Board, Leadership Team, and staff understand their specific accreditation responsibilities and deliverables and provide required updates and documentation on an annual basis.
  • Ensure Accreditation implementation committees and working groups are appropriately convened and chaired with clear terms of reference and deliverables.
  • Ensure that all required / requested pre-site documentation is submitted to the CCA online portal based on timelines established by the Canadian Center for Accreditation.
  • Participate in meetings with the CCA Accreditation Specialist, as required.
  • Ensure the onsite Accreditation visit is planned and coordinated and that all post site visit requirements are met.

  • Monday to Friday, thirty-five (35) hours per week
  • Availability for evening coverage on a rotating schedule.
