Productivity Services Technician - Mining Tire Group Kal Tire’s Mining Division is a tire management service company that works on over 25 mining operations across Canada.
We enable our customers to be productive and safe, helping them get the most out of their tires by maximizing equipment availability while ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
Our business is expanding, and we are growing our Productivity Services team. Your role is to support our range of productivity tools on customer sites and identify opportunities for improvement.
The Productivity Services Technician - Mining Systems plays a crucial role in supporting Kal Tire's shift towards advanced mining solutions, ensuring optimal functionality of Pitcrew autonomous inspection stations, TPMS sensors, and associated systems in the field.
With hands-on expertise, this role ensures all on-site technological systems are operational, efficient, and are aligned with the strategic vision laid out by the Mining Productivity Services and other related departments.
By working closely with the remote monitoring team, the technician plays an integral part in maintaining and troubleshooting field systems, ensuring peak performance, and achieving customer satisfaction.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Field Support & Maintenance, and Station Construction
- Ensure all AIS stations, TPMS sensors, and related systems are fully operational in the field
- Respond to alerts and perform hands-on troubleshooting for any hardware or software malfunctions.
- Regularly inspect and maintain equipment, ensuring durability, especially in varying climate conditions.
- Upgrade and / or replace system components as required, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Assist the Condition Monitoring Analyst by providing ground-level feedback and data, ensuring accuracy in remote assessments.
- Work with manufacturing team to assemble, test and deploy new AIS stations
Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise with the Product Manager to provide feedback on system designs, hardware placements, and other field-specific insights.
- Collaborate with the Productivity Services Specialists to address and rectify any system issues.
- Communicate directly with customer sites for system setup, integration, and issue resolution.
- Provide training to site teams on system purpose, value and best practices.
- Work closely with the data analytics and monitoring teams to ensure that the collected field data aligns with study objectives and can be seamlessly integrated into Kal Tire’s analytical frameworks.
- Lead and coordinate efforts in collecting precise and reliable field data from Mobile Autonomous Inspection Stations (AIS) and Fixed AIS, TPMS sensors, and other relevant systems.
This includes monitoring real-time data streams, capturing anomalies, and ensuring data integrity.
- Equipment Calibration : Regularly calibrate all data collection tools and equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability in data captured.
- Facilitate Studies : Actively support the Condition Monitoring Analyst and Pitcrew Project Engineer by facilitating field-based studies aimed at improving system performance, predicting maintenance requirements, or understanding specific site conditions.
- Continuous Improvement
- Offer insights based on field experience to assist in the development and improvement of the systems.
- Relay feedback from clients and site teams to the management to drive product excellence.
- Field Reporting : Provide detailed field reports on data collection activities, highlighting any challenges, anomalies, or potential areas of interest that can aid in further analysis or research.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of all system installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.
- Report any system failures, anomalies, or inefficiencies to the central Mining Solutions team.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience in technical support roles, preferably within mining or related industries.
- Direct experience with autonomous systems, sensors, or related technologies
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Experience with ELV (Extra Low Voltage) electrical systems
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, from on-site teams to management.
- Self-driven, able to work independently in the field.
- Ability to work under varying climatic conditions and geographical terrains.
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to navigate computer applications.
- High degree of attention to detail
- Able to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses and certificates as require
- Proficient in English and French is preferred
EDUCATION
Technical Diploma preferably in the field of electrical engineering. Similar combinations of education and experience will be taken into consideration. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel extensively across various mining sites.
- Valid driver’s license
- Quick learning and technological aptitude
- Drone Pilot License is a value add.
- Working understanding of TCP / IP, Wi-Fi networks and Instrumentation controls
COMPENSATION
- The target salary range for this position is 71,000- 83,000 per year based on experience
- Overtime and travel time pay is eligible
