Coquitlam School District invites applications from individuals for the position Plumber / HVAC 1. As the third largest school district in the province, we are located within a 40-minute drive from downtown Vancouver.
The school district has a population of 32,000 students with approximately 4300 teaching, administrative, managerial and support staff.
The Plumber / HVAC 1 reports to the Manager of Maintenance and the Trades Supervisor Mechanical and provides Plumbing and HVAC 1 tasks with a minimum of supervision.
Duties include : Installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing equipment in buildings and grounds Maintaining and repairing gas fittings Installing and repairing water mains, sanitary systems, hot water tanks and heating systems Performing duties of the HVAC 1 as required Ordering related supplies and equipment Performing preventative maintenance on equipment and structures such as boilers etc.
Providing estimates and advice on plumbing projects Supervising uncertified tradesmen when they are assigned to assist; reporting unsafe situations and keeps detailed account of work performed for the computerized costing system.
Operating plumbing tools, such as pipe cutting and threading equipment, power snake and soldering equipment etc. Other work as assigned in other classifications in times of emergency.
Required Knowledge and Skills : Plumbing Trades Qualification (TQ) plus current Provincial Gas Ticket Minimum of three (3) years proven experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system maintenance including a minimum of two (2) years’ experience using DDC systems Recent related experience Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
