Role Responsibilities
The Energy Transition Division under the Ministry of Energy & Minerals is currently seeking an agile and driven Senior Manager to join their team to drive key initiatives advancing policy development around emerging resources including critical minerals and nuclear.
As the Director of Business Relationships & Implementation, you will assist the Executive Director in leading a team of professionals focused on developing strategic engagement with various stakeholders, including members of the energy and minerals industry, the Federal Government, and other provinces.
Your primary goal will be to reduce emissions and achieve net zero status by 2050. Additionally, you will support Alberta’s transition to a low-carbon energy jurisdiction by attracting investment in emerging energy technologies and opportunities.
You will also contribute to the secretariat’s work with industry on negotiating tables involving bilateral, trilateral, and Ammonia Transportation Trilateral Pathways.
The Director oversees all aspects of program delivery and issue resolution while collaborating with the management team in the Branch.
You will be looked upon to conduct long-term environmental scanning and risk management to understand emerging decarbonization technologies, manufacturing opportunities, threats and risk as well as ensure Alberta’s competitiveness in attracting investments in low carbon energy opportunities.
In addition, you will be relied upon to collaborate and influence broader and regulatory and program policy options.
The successful candidate will support Energy Transition Emerging Resources in developing and improving regulatory regimes to incentivize investment in hydrogen, ammonia, helium, lithium, liquefied natural gas, geothermal and mineral development in the province.
It is critical that the Director can anticipate, quickly adapt, take advantage of opportunities, and make effective decisions.
The ability to see the big picture, recommend solutions leveraging critical analysis skills and viable network of stakeholders and resources will be required for success in this role.
