What you will be doing :
- Consistently offer professional, engaging, and friendly service.
- Be health and safety conscious, actively maintaining a safe work environment by inspecting all areas of the property for safety issues and taking immediate corrective action.
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks across various systems, including minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other general maintenance duties.
- Respond promptly to guest and colleague requests and Alice work orders related to maintenance issues, ensuring guest and colleague satisfaction with minimal disruption to hotel and residence operations.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions to restore functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logbooks and Alice tickets.
- Perform service and repair duties in guestrooms, public areas, and residences.
- Conduct minor equipment repairs, HVAC servicing, and filter changes.
- Caulk washrooms and bathrooms, and repair and replace bathroom fixtures and minor plumbing.
- Perform daily swimming pool and jacuzzi water tests and chemical balancing when assigned.
- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on the property’s facilities, guest rooms, and equipment.
- Assist guests with hotel equipment, such as TVs, Chromecast, telephones, thermostats, and Wi-Fi connections as needed.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Troubleshoot issues using leaders, lead hands, trade support, online resources, or owner manuals.
- Complete assigned preventative maintenance, work order, and RSM tickets.
- Respond to all emergency / fire alarm / power loss calls as required.
- Ensure the safe condition and operation of all equipment before use.
- Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel vehicles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Your experience and qualifications include :
- Previous experience in Building Maintenance, Building Operators Certificate or a 5th Class Power Engineer preferable
- Experience in property maintenance with working knowledge of mechanical and technical functions
- Valid Alberta Driver's License required
- Pool Certification is an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications (Word, Excel)
- Basic mechanical ability, including knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to complete work without supervision
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible and reliable, able to work safely with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work a variety of shifts
- Flexible work schedule based on business volume
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively with colleagues as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Understanding of mechanical and technical functions required
- General handyman skills required
- Prior experience using various hand and power tools
- Minor plumbing (able to replace sink / shower cartridge, able to snake sink / shower and toilet drains, able to replace toilet fill valve, flush lever, flapper), etc.
- Minor Carpentry (able to replace door looks, door / window hinges, latches, window cranks and slides, drawer slides, door closure, etc.)
