    Duties

    Key Activities of this position :

    1.Implements front-end updates as delegated.

    2.Conducts front-end accessibility testing as required.

    3.Participates in UI / UX testing in collaboration with other library stakeholders.

    4.Implements integrated library system (ILS) template changes.

    5.Proposes ILS workflow changes and procedural updates based on documented observations.

    6.Assists with batch updates to bibliographic records as appropriate.

    7.Implements e-resource management update procedures (bib record batches, resource records, license records, coverage database).

    8.Provides backup coverage for library systems and electronic resources vendor-relations.

    9.Collaborates with immediate supervisor to develop requirements for library systems.

    10.Implements library technology procedures.

    11.Assists immediate supervisor with library technology configuration and maintenance.

    12.Maintains awareness of changes to standards in relevant technologies (web design, accessibility, library technologies).

    13.Identifies relevant opportunities for skill development / training.

    14.Collects and contributes to analysis of statistical data from library systems.

    15.Populates data products created by immediate supervisor.

    16.Provides input on statistical program changes based on experience.

    The immediate need is to staff one (1) position indeterminately with an English essential linguistic profile.

    A pool of fully assessed candidates may be established to staff similar positions within the Department of Justice with various tenure, various linguistic profiles, various operational requirements and / or various conditions of employment. Upon request, this pool may also be shared with other federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) to staff similar positions in their organization.

    EDUCATION :

    ED1 - Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in social science, statistics, library / archival work or a law-related field OR, an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.

    Notes :

    1.An indeterminate incumbent of a former SI position who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated in Part B above, is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his / her education, training and / or experience. He / she must be accepted as having met the minimum educational standard for appointment or deployment to Part B EC positions. This note also applies to a person appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a Part B EC position after that date as the result of a staffing transaction started before June 22, 2009.

    2.At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience that is comparable to the minimum education stated above, may serve as an alternative. Whenever the minimum educational standard is met through an alternative, it is met only for the position being staffed, and a candidate must be re-assessed for future appointments and deployments if the manager has asked for this alternative.

    3."Social science" includes economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, history, psychology, geography, criminology, and other disciplines associated with social science. “Library / archival work” includes gallery and museum functions.

    4.It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines whether the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at that institution.

    EXPERIENCE :

    EX1 : Experience with the creation or management of metadata in a highly automated computer environment.

    EX2 : Experience with web-centric scripting and programming languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

    EX3 : Experience in providing support in the configuration or design of systems.
