New Controller opportunity working with a retailer with strong financial backing and plans to double in size over the next five years.

As the most senior finance professional, the Controller will oversee financial operations, manage a team of five, drive process improvements, and contribute to strategic growth in collaboration with corporate leadership and store operations.

Who - the Company :
The company operates multiple home improvement stores across Western Canada.
What - the Role :
As the most senior finance professional ,the Controller will oversee all financial and accounting operations, manage a team of five, and partner with key stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely financial reporting. The Controller will play a pivotal role in supporting the company's growth through strategic financial insights and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage a team of five finance professionals, providing mentorship, feedback, and development.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger management.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with ASPE.
- Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and ensure financial obligations are met.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to inform decision-making.
- Oversee tax compliance and external audit processes.
- Collaborate with store management to optimize financial performance.
- Develop and maintain budgeting and long-term financial planning processes.
- Drive process and systems improvements, including ERP implementation.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls.

The headquarters is in Victoria, BC, and working arrangements include a minimum of 2 days per week in office, although ideally you will be mostly in office while learning the business and embedding in the role
How Much :
Base salary of between $120,000 and $150,000; Bonus Component; Deferred Pension Program; Standard Benefits Package; Four Weeks' Vacation.
