Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan (CIC) is the holding company formed by the Government of Saskatchewan to manage the province’s commercial Crown corporations, including SaskWater.
SaskWater serves 77 communities, 11 rural municipalities, 78 rural pipeline groups, 15 industrial, and 261 commercial and domestic customers, reaching approximately 120,400 people. It owns nine water treatment plants, three wastewater facilities, and extensive pipelines and booster stations. The President and CEO of SaskWater provides strategic leadership, governance, and management to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable water and wastewater services in Saskatchewan. Working with the Board of Directors, the President aligns corporate objectives with the strategic plan of the Government of Saskatchewan including, CIC Saskatchewan and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include financial results, establishing the strategic vision, overseeing business plans, monitoring industry trends, fostering a positive corporate culture, and ensuring financial results are met. The President also leads the Executive Committee and ensures compliance with legal and corporate standards.
The ideal candidate should possess a graduate degree in business, public administration, engineering, or a related field, along with substantial executive-level experience. Experience in senior leadership roles within government or Crown corporations, involving multiple stakeholders, is highly advantageous. Additionally, experience in the water, wastewater, or utility industry is beneficial. The role demands strong critical and strategic thinking skills, the ability to foster positive relationships with stakeholders, and effective public speaking abilities. The President must also be capable of cultivating a positive workplace culture, managing complex and high-profile issues, driving innovation and continuous improvement, and ensuring effective succession planning and organizational structure.
