KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director, Governance & Legal Services, the incumbent plays a pivotal role in ensuring efficient operations and adherence to legislative and organizational standards. Their responsibilities typically include a mix of administrative, advisory, and facilitation duties related to municipal governance.
The incumbent handles and acts on confidential information, builds effective partnerships with departments to facilitate project planning and implementation, and serves as a liaison among stakeholders. It supports the Director and management in developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures while coordinating projects in collaboration with project teams, consultants, and senior leadership to translate strategic direction into actionable outcomes and creative solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, business administration or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years' of experience in a municipal or public sector administrative role.
The position requires legislative knowledge of municipal governance, applicable laws, and parliamentary procedures. Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite is required, along with knowledge of electronic records management systems and meeting management software.
SALARY
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $96,641.50, along with a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totalling $450 per month and a defined benefit pension plan.
