Reporting to the Manager, Studio Services, the Photo Media Technician - Light Sensitive Processing Technician is responsible for developing and supporting light sensitive processing facilities and photographic equipment. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for facilitating the access and development of a centralized equipment inventory available for loan. This position is also responsible for supporting various technology enhanced teaching and learning spaces including an accessible high-capacity computing facility.ResponsibilitiesIdentify, develop and maintain specialized light sensitive processing facilities including darkrooms, lighting studios and scanner technology which supports activities in Photo, Film, Animation, Printmaking and Textiles.Maintain specialized photographic equipment in a centralized equipment loan facility to ensure equitable and reasonable access to multiple levels of users and requirements.Troubleshoot requests from students, faculty and staff and act as a first point of contact when recommending access to other services with particular emphasis on academic computing needs.Run workshops, orientation and training sessions on using photographic equipment, facilities or light sensitive processes along. with aspects of digital technology, printing, software use and Brightspace.Help desk assistance and troubleshooting.Develop maintain and provide service in support of computer labs, smart classrooms, auditoriums etc.To support software licensing, installation, advice and updates.Coordinates access to facilities and teaching spaces and secures area when required.Managing resources, budgets and maintain detailed records in area in accordance with academic needs and university policies.Maintain equipment stores by performing and / or arranging repairs and procurement activity.Liaise with colleagues and faculty to coordinate access to materials and equipment based on academic priorities.QualificationsAn BFA in Fine Arts with a concentration in Photo Media or equivalent and at least four (4) years' experience with photography and relevant computer equipment and software is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The incumbent must have specialized knowledge of audio-visual and computer equipment and software, and excellent troubleshooting skills. Experience working in a post-secondary educational environment is an asset. Excellent interpersonal skills, service orientation, and an ability to communicate effectively are essential.
