About the Faculty
The Faculty of Applied Health Sciences is home to over 100 faculty members, 4000 undergraduate and 250 graduate students in five departments : Kinesiology, Nursing, Health Sciences, Recreation and Leisure Studies, and Sport Management.
About the Position
Brock University is excited to announce the approval from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities of Ontario to launch the Master of Sport Management (MSM) degree, scheduled to commence in the Fall of 2025. The MSM is a one-year graduate degree jointly delivered by the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences through the Department of Sport Management and the Goodman Business School, with an emphasis on business intelligence, analytics, and data-informed decision-making. We seek dynamic and passionate faculty members to join the Department of Sport Management and contribute to the success of this new, innovative program.
We invite applications for two (2) tenure-stream appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor. The positions are slated to commence July 1, 2025.
Minimum Qualifications :
Candidates must have earned a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DBA) in sport management or a closely related field (e.g., economics, statistics, computer science, data science). ABDs with a scheduled defence date prior to July 1 will be considered. Applicants should be able to contribute to the new MSM program in one or more of the following areas :
- Organizational Analytics
- Sport Business Consulting
- Sport Data Ethics and Integrity
- Information systems and Management
- Business Intelligence
- Data Visualization
Additionally, candidates should be able to contribute to the Department of Sport Management’s efforts at the undergraduate level, including (but not limited to) the following areas of the sport industry : economics, finance, and / or quantitative research methods. Consequently, we seek applicants with research and training that embraces and utilizes quantitative traditions, methodologies, and analyses.
Candidates should indicate their potential and / or established record of publishing in high-quality sport management research outlets (e.g., Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly). Candidates are expected to assist with areas of program development, including service on the MSM program committee; graduate teaching experience, and experience with course curriculum design and implementation of big data and data tools in teaching is strongly desired.
Hiring decisions will be made based on the congruence of candidates with the needs of the new program, outlined by the criteria noted above.
