2505 Logistics Supervisor
Our client, a successful automotive parts manufacturer, is searching for a Logistics Supervisor who will be responsible for all material handling and shipping and receiving operations. This role requires a high-performing leader that can develop and bring the team to the next level.
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the following functions : Shipping Supervisor, Receiving Supervisor, Inbound shipments, Warehouse Transfers, Shunters, Warehouse Reports, Production Material Handlers and Yard Maintenance Personnel
- Supervise and assist employees and ensure that their duties are carried out in a satisfactory and timely manner
- Ensure that Departmental and Company wide measurable's are being met
- Establish and adhere to Department budgets
- Coordinate the movement of all trucks at all locations to ensure a smooth continuous flow of movement
- Responsible for window times and dock studies
- Maximizes labour utilization within the shipping department and ensures that all shipments being made are 100% on time and accurate
- Ensure that all shipments are ready for pick up and if not Delivery Performance concern reports are being issued and followed up with appropriate Production personnel, the appropriate Scheduler and the Customer Service representative
- Approve and at times prepare weekly OT Time Sheet Summaries for payroll
- Works with Purchasing to negotiate expedite and LTA costs with appropriate carriers
- Implement and maintain a Containerization policy to ensure that an inventory of customer returnable packaging is maintained as required
- Responsible for the accuracy of Finished goods.
- Ensure that corrective and preventative actions are in place if the accuracy is below the goal.
- Champion forklift training, appraisals, competency, etc. for all Departments
- Ensure that Continuous Improvement projects are in place
- Recruit, interview etc. with the respect to the hiring of new departmental staff; liaise with Human Resources Department as applicable
- Prepare and maintains documentation / desk procedures specific to the Shipping Department positions.
- Complies and enforces OHSA (Material Handling, PPE, Lift Devices…etc)
- Perform regular safety workplace inspections and conduct regular monthly safety talks
- Be involved with Accident / Investigation program
- Train new employee of Job Specific Hazards
- Responsible for proper handling, storage and disposal of all chemicals, used materials and equipment.
- Responsible for Rental Trailer Log
- Responsible for Damaged Returnable Container Management Log
- Maintain 5S standards in working environment / s
- Attend training based on internal training matrix
- Performs all job functions in a safe, healthful and environmentally conscious manner, abiding by all health, safety and environment rules and regulations as outlined in the Company Handbook
- Complies with standard and regulations that include but not limited to (IATF 16949, CTPAT, ISO14001, ISO45001)
- Performs other duties as assigned or any reasonable request by management
