Moving forward, Redberry has a significant back-log of construction projects and requires a Construction Procurement Manager.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the VP of Construction, the Construction Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing all the bidding and procurement functions within the Redberry Construction Group and supervises the estimating and pre-construction process through collaboration with Finance, General Contractors and external consultants, design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and the Manager of Capital Planning.
What YOU Will Do
- Manage a team of 2-3 project / procurement co-ordinators. Provide coaching and mentoring skills to the project / procurement co-ordinators.
- Prepare phase 1 project capital expenditure budgets using a historical database of new build and remodel projects.
- Update project budget costs of materials, labour and equipment for restaurant new build or remodel projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
- Lead project Budget reconciliations during and after a project is complete.
- Manage and advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations.
- Prepare tender documents for procurement of general contractors / suppliers including : Term and condition of contract, Construction methodologies and schedule, Pricing requirements in conjunction with other project team members;
- Establish and maintain tendering process and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
- Prepare cost and capital expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of each project.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, general contractors and subcontractors.
- Liaise, consult and communicate with project managers, engineers, architects, contractors and subcontractors, and assist in preparing new store business cases.
- In partnership with Project Managers, resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting info.
- Prepare and present budgets, reports, and project plans.
- Liaise with the Manager of Capital Planning to update capital expenditure forecasts by project.
- Works closely with architects and other professionals.
- Schedule meetings with internal stakeholders, as required.
- Navigate and understand building codes.
- Process paperwork and travel to building sites as required.
- Monitor facilities project processes.
- Manage project supplier and contractor relationships and accounts with assigned key / strategic suppliers to optimize financial and operational performance ;
- Identify potential general contractors and suppliers, evaluate proposals, and negotiate contracts with vendors, ensuring the best value for money ;
- Develop and maintain procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier performance metrics ;
- Monitor supplier performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective action plans as necessary ;
- Negotiate prices and conditions with general contractors and other vendors ;
- Control the process if additional change orders are needed ;
- Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to understand their procurement requirements and develop procurement plans accordingly ;
- Develop and prepare reports for the managing staff to give an update of the procurement process
- Ensure all procurement activities are conducted in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
What YOU Will Bring
- 10+ years of experience in procurement and / or estimation, preferably in restaurant or retail construction.
- Experience, familiarity, and existing relationships with major local general contractors or restaurant equipment suppliers across Canada would be an asset.
- Practical experience of procurement processes, methods, practices, and contract administration as well as accounting and scheduling principles.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, including sourcing, contracting, negotiation, and supplier management
- Strong computer skills, specifically with MS Office, including high competency using Excel, and Smartsheets.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work productively with nominal supervision
- Availability to travel to monitor supplier’s performance, production and schedules as needed.
