Retail Supply Chain Consulting Manager

Accenture
Toronto, ON
Full-time

We are :

Supply Chain, and we move fast, think fast, and work fast. Our Fortune 500 clients need big-picture change, so we come at their challenges from all sides with functional insights, data power, digital leadership, and extensive industry know-how.

It's our job to show clients how to take major leaps forward in planning, procurement, manufacturing, and fulfillment. How do we do it?

We call out the most important metrics. We cut costs. We connect suppliers and customers across the extended supply chain.

And we create strategies and operating models that really work. Visit us here to find out more about Supply Chain.

You are :

A retail supply chain expert with the experience to help companies get the most from their planning, inventory, transportation and logistics.

In today's economy, companies depend on everything getting where it needs to go. You have the data skills and experience to find ways to make the whole process more efficient all the way through the supply chain.

The work :

  • Find solutions to clients' planning, transportation and logistics problems
  • Persuade senior clients and Accenture managers why alternate approaches may be needed
  • Decide which methods and procedures to use when completing projects
  • Work alone or lead and manage large sized teams with diverse backgrounds, skills and knowledge as needed
  • Develop and coach junior resources
  • Make sure that projects help clients meet their important goals
  • Be ready to challenge old ways of doing things
  • Use the latest analytical tools to help clients :
  • Know who their customers are
  • Know what those customers want
  • Which assets they have and how to use them
  • Improve their transportation and logistics
  • Make their network spend more productive
  • Make sure their assets are best suited to help meet strategic goals
  • Find the right planning strategies to help clients' business and value chain needs, like postponement, make to order, make to stock, and make to assembly
  • Give clients useful insights into their spending on transportation, including analysis of customer, interfacility and transportation leakage
  • Craft transportation and logistics strategies (insource / outsource) that match overall service levels and reduce the clients' costs along the supply chain
  • Use digital tech to help make clients' organizations more effective and efficient
  • Lead workshops that look for ways to improve retail and manufacturing organizations and processes
  • Be ready to build air miles with travel to client sites Monday to Friday

Here's what you need :

  • At least 5 years of experience in forecasting, planning and inventory optimization, or transportation and logistics
  • At least 3 years of experience working as a consultant
  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • English is required for this position as this role will regularly interact with stakeholders across Canada, US and other countries across our Global footprint where English is the common language.

Due to the significant high volume of interactions with these English-speaking stakeholders, which is inherent to this position, it is not possible to reorganize the company's activities to avoid this requirement.

Bonus points if :

  • You've got serious data and analytical chops when it comes to improving forecasts and managing inventory
  • You can spot where to find new value in logistics and transportation, and explain it simply
  • You have demonstrated ability to create and articulate value propositions
