Overview

VetCare is searching for a Veterinary Software Specialist to support the optimization of the Practice Management Information Software (PIMS) at our practices.

The ideal candidate is technically savvy and has significant experience in the clinical setting or within the veterinary industry.

They will be responsible for promoting the use and adoption of PIMS systems, while also being tasked with identifying additional areas where business systems can improve efficiency, gathering feedback from employees and stakeholders, and working with other team members to maximize and enhance the use of PIMS, as well as support practices with training and software implementation.

Based in the GTA, Calgary, or Vancouver, this is a remote role that will require on-site presence at our local veterinary practices up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities(including but not limited to)

This Veterinary Software Specialist will play the lead in this hands-on role meant to demonstrate passion about the value of the business system and a commitment to helping VetCare practice teams to realize the full benefits of our PIMS.

They will also be responsible for training employees in the practices and providing support and guidance as needed as the go-to’ resource. They will also :

  • Support any new implementations and upgrades by managing implementation timelines to efficiently and successfully move through the implementation process
  • Collaborate with practice level team members to identify and plan workflow process improvements
  • Identify opportunities to improve and streamline processes utilizing technology
  • Act as a mentor for employees on veterinary software by providing training support to ensure team satisfaction
  • Develop customized training materials and create documentation to enhance the practice level user experience
  • Focus on continuous improvement and utilization of PIMS and ensuring systems are used to their full potential
  • Interact with VetCare team members at all levels - functional leads from the Practice Care Centre, the Operations team in the field (Regional Managers), DVMs and all practice level team members
  • Systematically monitor progress, utilizing tracking and metrics and identifies any areas that need improvement, escalates issues as needed

Position Requirements

  • A natural leader with a disciplined approach to problem solving and an interest in promoting the new initiative - walks the talk’
  • Five or more years of experience in the veterinary industry at the practice level and strong technical aptitude
  • Software and computer oriented and technically savvy
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills and is viewed as approachable by all levels of employees across practices
  • Organized in handling multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, rapidly changing and dynamic organization with a self-governing, roll-up-your-sleeves culture, and able to work independently
  • Demonstrated skills and experience with software training and / or aptitude to train others would be advantageous
