We are looking for someone that is ready to take the next steps in their career as a Wind Turbine Technician! This is a very unique opportunity to assist specialty repairs and requests throughout the Canada Region.
We have built a culture that is driven by Safety and Quality, and are ready to add someone that is looking to become part of the greatest team in the industry!! This position is responsible for performing and reporting on various troubleshooting tasks, turbine inspections, and repairs.
This could include assistance for all components associated within the wind turbine. 100% travel from site-to-site is required.
The Mechanical and Electrical Specialist Technician will interface with clients and manage small crews on a regular basis.
They are expected to be able to lead and manage their time under minimal supervision. You will be the face of the company on many projects and expected to deliver high quality results, while keeping Safety and Quality at the top of the list.
Assist other jobs within the Advanced Maintenance, Heavy lifts, Major Campaigns, and Blades teams, as needed. Relocation will not be offered for this role, but you can live anywhere in the country since this is a 100% travel position.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Ability to work in confined / enclosed space and comfortable with working at heights.
- Inspections (borescope) of drivetrain components (main shaft + bearings, gearbox + gears + bearings)
- Up-Tower Gearbox repairs high speed bearings, high speed shafts, intermediate speed bearings, mechanical pumps
- Assist in troubleshooting of drivetrain related issues (pumps, sensors, brakes, cooling unit, filters, etc.)
- Assist in large corrective (crane work) replacement of gearboxes and main shafts if other work is not available.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to describe complex damages, participate in preparation of inspection and repair reports, and follow up to final resolutions.
- Advance knowledge of maintenance and electrical testing equipment for turbines
- Test electrical components and systems, as well as mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Perform maintenance on wind turbine equipment including troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic malfunctions.
Replace worn or malfunctioning components.
- Assist Advanced Maintenance group with various projects, including large and small correctives on a variety of components.
- Identify process improvements; including reduction of non-value-added operations, increased productivity opportunities, increased safety opportunities, etc.
- Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair components in the wind turbine. Inspect the exterior and physical integrity of towers and blades.
- Technician must be able to work within the maximum safety guidelines using personal protection equipment.
- Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, diagnostic tools and equipment.
- 100% travel with regular rotations from job to job. These are mostly short-term assignments (1 day to 2 weeks), and then you are moved to the next project.

What You Bring
- High School Graduate / GED / Equivalent Work
- Candidate should have 1-2 Years of Related Work Experience.
- Gearbox / Generator Repairs and Inspection Knowledge
- Familiarity with Gamesa and / or Siemens Mechanical / Electrical turbine operation :
- Microsoft Excel, Word.
- Travelling will be 100% for this position.
- Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver’s license at the time of application with an acceptable driving record.
