Job Description
We are currently seeking a qualified Construction Safety Officer to join our construction team based out of Toronto, ON. The Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for performing construction assurance and compliance activities and supporting project teams to develop Safe Work Procedures and have the opportunity to work on the Ontario Line, Metrolinx project.

Duties & Responsibilities :
- Perform construction assurance and compliance activities on the assigned Projects,
- Support Project teams to develop Safe Work Procedures and to implement effectively for the safe execution of the works,
- Perform formal inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the relevant OHS legislation, standards, and contract requirements,
- Provide day to day oversight for on-site construction work conducted by contractors to assess contractor compliance against the relevant OHSA legislation and contract requirements, support with the identification of hazards and implementation of risk mitigation controls,
- Review site activities and provide support for the protection of workers as well as public, infrastructure, and operations,
- Engage, coordinate and work with Integrated Project Team and internal / external stakeholders to provide consistent and continuous support,
- In collaboration with the Integrated Project team, review, analyze and outline construction activities and work areas to ensure safe and efficient delivery,
- Participate and / or support others with incident investigations, including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions,
- Assist the Safety Director and Safety team with other tasks as required.
Qualifications
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in heavy civil / earthwork and / or railway construction safety
- Strong working knowledge of Ontario OHSA Act and Regulations with an enhanced level of knowledge and experience in construction requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience in managing multitasks and multiple priorities within time frames.
- Ability to establish collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- NCSO or other designation is preferred.
- To be at site and / or project office in Toronto 5 days a week.
