School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) invites applications for a 1.00 FTE continuing position for a Speech and Language Pathologist for Pre-K - Grade 12.
This position is effective September 1, 2024. The starting annual salary for this full-time position ranges from $68,017 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

The District Speech and Language Pathologist will :
Coordinate Speech-Language Services with school teams
Collaborate with school teams in support of IEP development and curriculum delivery for students who require Speech Language services i.
e. team teaching, IEP adaptations and modifications
Foster the development of strong literacy and numeracy skills by utilizing a variety of communications techniques, instructional skills, and teaching methodologies
Integrate information and communication technologies to support teaching and learning
Work with the Multidisciplinary Team and Learning Services team members to provide support services across the district
Establish, with School Based Teams, a method of service delivery that includes caseload selection and scheduling, record keeping, evaluating programs, developing instructional materials and scheduling and supervising speech-language assistant
Necessary Qualifications :
Master’s Degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology (or in progress)
Registered with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC
Eligibility for membership in the British Columbia Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (BCASLPA) and / or Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC);
Proven ability to integrate the use of technology to support an effective learning environment
Ability to carry out a variety of informal and formal educational assessments, including classroom observation and curriculum-based assessments
Current experience in positive behaviour support systems
Collaborative approach to working with colleagues and parents and a commitment to work on team goals for the improvement of student achievement
Exemplary experience working in inclusive environments supporting learning for all students
Class 4 / 5 driver’s license, safe driving record and use of personal vehicle
Desired Qualifications :
Experience with external agencies and inter-agency case management
Exemplary experience with assessment, program planning, intervention and consultation as a speech language pathologist in the public school system
