The Growth Alliance enables HelloFresh to expand by getting more customers to try, recommend, and return back to our products.
We build digital products that are used by customers all over the world. Our teams work at a global scale on services and products like our scalable web mono repo infrastructure, checkout funnel, discounting and wallet services, price experimentation infrastructure, and referral marketing technology.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll join a cross-functional team building features to empower key internal users at HelloFresh to develop and plan the products millions of customers will get access to across our dozen-plus markets.
You will develop engaging user experiences iteratively using modern technologies with focus on accessibility, scalability and maintainability.

We are a close-knit group of engineers of different stripes - developers, testers, and product owners - who are working together to solve interesting e-commerce and supply chain problems around how people eat.
Sometimes, this involves executing experiments to improve the user journey and making it easier for our customers to buy amazing food.
Sometimes, this means creating net new stable software solutions that enable the launch of new brands..
We are looking for developers who are excited by great code that scales well. As a member of our Toronto team, you’ll work with highly-skilled engineers who have been solving problems in this space for quite some time, and have turned HelloFresh into the #1 meal delivery service in the world!

- Take ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment and operations of the microservices you will develop, using DevOps practices, pair programming and other modern development methodologies
- Be an active, solution-oriented member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile teams collaborating with Product Owners, Engineers, Designers, and Business Intelligence teams
- Having an in-depth understanding of HelloFresh’s core product and architecture and act as an ambassador for software solutions offering support and mentorship to colleagues
Sound a-peeling? Here's what we're looking for
- Strong engineering and architecture experience interfacing with backend APIs and microservices with past experience building out an end-to-end platforms (backend & frontend)
- 5+ years experience developing in Javascript with minimum 3 years deploying live applications in ReactJS or NodeJS
- Proficiency in SEO, including a strong grasp of web crawlers, indexing, and Core Web Vitals
- Deep knowledge in web development best-practices when it comes to the developer experience, website performance & observability (ie : web design patterns, testing strategies & deployment pipelines)
- Thorough experience mentoring other engineers either 1-on-1 or in group settings
- Proven ability to present technical ideas to a wide range of audiences, including senior & product leadership
- Bonus : Working knowledge of mobile app development through React Native or experience leading (or working) on large-scale cross-platform projects
- Bonus : Past experience building complex consumer-facing e-commerce storefronts, powered by either 3rd-party platforms (such as Shopify or Wix) or built fully in-house.
