The Opportunity
Reporting to the City Manager, you will be part of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and be responsible for the overall strategic management, direction, and operation of the Corporate Services Department.
This responsibility include leading the efficient and effective operation and delivery of service by the Revenue Internal Audit, Corporate Information Technology, and Licensing & Enforcement Divisions.
The General Manager provides oversight and direction to the Office of the City Treasurer and Superior North Emergency Medical Services.
Major accountabilities for this role include :
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), provides input into the development and ongoing review of the Corporate Strategic Plan as it relates to the Department, including plan implementation, coordination, and program delivery;
coordinates interdepartmental work plans; provides and shares information; reviews Corporate policies and procedures; and prepares, reviews, and recommends capital and operating budgets.
Participates as a member of EML by providing input into proposed organizational reviews from across the organization; human resource management with respect to Corporate workforce planning, talent acquisition and development;
the Corporate Review Process; cost savings programs and initiatives, and major issues management.
- Establishes recommended standards for service delivery that are consistent with changing community needs and the overall Corporate Strategic Plan.
- Leads initiatives to advance the Corporation’s effectiveness in the delivery of quality service, including continuous improvement, performance measurement and risk management.
- Attends Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings and provides oversight and direction related to all departmental Corporate reports and presentations to City Council.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have :
- University degree in business or public administration, commerce or a related discipline, post graduate degree preferred,
- 10 years of senior management-level experience in an administrative capacity, directly related to the major responsibilities, in a large, unionized and highly diversified public or private sector organization.
- Experience in business management, planning, budgets and finance.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and related regulations.
- Demonstrated commitment to integrate inclusivity, accessibility, reconciliation and Indigenous perspectives to decision making and service delivery.
- Proven acumen in business and financial management, with the ability to improve Departmental effectiveness and efficiency through the management and utilization of human, financial, and physical resources.
