Department Overview :

TDBG spends around $8B each year with vendors. Strategic Sourcing Group’s (SSG) role, in collaboration with our business partners, is to create sustainable competitive advantage for TDBG by leveraging this third party spend and the expertise of our key suppliers to meet our needs, reduce total cost, and mitigate supply-related risks.

Our role is global in scope and we have just embarked on a journey to transform the way we do sourcing, purchasing and vendor management within our department and more broadly across the organization.

Our team is comprised of 200 people who are in various TDBG locations across North America.

Job Overview :

In this role you will lead on major category initiatives and / or portfolios and execution of the sourcing mandate for assigned portfolio(s).

Provide professional and specialized support on a range of complex / major category initiatives and category portfolio.

CUSTOMER

Act as liaison with business / executives and provide sourcing expertise and recommendations to business partners to optimize Sourcing strategies to enable TD and business specific objectives and goals

Within category specialty, support business partners by contributing to governance programs and management programs

Manage category and strategic sourcing strategies and initiatives that support TD and business partner needs and objectives as well as help to mitigate risks to the organization

May provide guidance on Sourcing / outsourcing best practices

Present research findings and make recommendations to management that support category and business partner strategies

Leads supplier negotiations to maximize total cost of ownership in a given category and work with business partners

SHAREHOLDER

Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate

Be knowledgeable of sourcing practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area

Protect the interests of the organization identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary

Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development / delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience

Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exists

Acquire and apply sourcing expertise, provide guidance, assistance and direction to others

Identify, recommend, and effectively execute standard practices applicable to the discipline

Adhere to internal policies / procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines

Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts

Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

BREADTH & DEPTH

Experienced working professional role providing Sourcing support

Requires experienced, conceptual and practical Sourcing and procurement knowledge d knowledge of broader related areas

Accountable for own work and sometimes others; acts as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in their own area

Leads projects or work streams within broader projects with moderate risk and may be accountable for ongoing activities, processes and functional programs

Works within broad guidelines / policies and independently performs tasks from end to end

Solves moderately complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions

Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

Conveys business context when providing guidance within field of specialty to internal or external stakeholders

Work performed under minimal management guidance and supervision

Identify and lead problem resolution

Generally reports to a Senior / Manager role

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

Post-Secondary Education and / or

3+ years of related experience
