About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Tax Specialist, to join our growing team!

As a Senior Tax Specialist, you will perform various tasks related to tax compliance and tax accounting in accordance with established procedures and prescribed deadlines, following the various provincial and federal tax laws of Canada.

The ideal candidate must be a team player, have initiatives and manage tasks without constant supervision, think critically and change the status quo to improve current processes.

What you’ll do here :

Be part of the tax accounting and reporting cycle including provisioning and reporting.

Participate in managing the quarterly reviews and annual audit by the external auditor.

Prepare corporate tax returns, forms and elections for Canadian entities of the group.

Assist with preparation of formal responses to tax authority audit queries.

Advise accounting and other internal stakeholders on the tax impact of all internal reorganization projects and ensure all compliance requirements are met.

Monitor changes in tax policies, accounting and financial reporting to ensure compliance.

Provide support, advice and training to business units regarding the application of tax laws applicable to federal and provincial jurisdictions.

Assist with preparation of tax memos and process documentation.

Assist with technical research and analyses for reporting purposes.

Participate in tax process enhancement and tax technology implementation projects.

Liaise with other finance teams in the organization.

What you bring to the table :

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or taxation or any combination of equivalent education and experience.

Master’s degree in taxation or advanced tax course(s) from CPA is an asset.

Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in public accounting or industry.

Experience in Canadian tax compliance and knowledge of income tax accounting.

Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and of tax compliance software.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to meet tight deadlines

For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
