Lawson Clark & Oldman is one of Durham Region’s oldest and well-respected law firms. We are seeking an experienced Senior Real Estate Law Clerk (minimum 5-7 years experience) to join our firm.
The successful candidate will assist lawyers with all aspects of a real estate file (commercial, residential, mortgage etc.
and must have the ability to manage real estate closings from beginning to end. The full-time, permanent position is based in Ajax, Ontario (in-office not remote) .
The candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate must also be detail-oriented and proactive with excellent time management skills.
This position is best suited to qualified individuals who have excellent client service skills, are friendly and professional and are not shy about communicating with lawyers or clients directly.
In addition, your refined organizational skills and outstanding ability to multi-task will ensure success in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities :
- Managing purchase, sale, mortgage re-finance transactions on residential and commercial files;
- Reviewing and drafting purchase and sale agreements;
- Conducting and interpreting title searches;
- Preparation and coordination of all closing documents;
- Preparation of disbursement statements and draft accounts;
- Preparation of final reporting to clients and lenders;
- Organizing documents for files;
- Other administrative tasks as assigned.
Requirements :
- Minimum of 5-7 years experience in a Real Estate Law Clerk role;
- Law Clerk Diploma from an accredited Ontario Law Clerk program certified with the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario;
- Proficient in Teraview, Unity, PCLAW, and Microsoft Office;
- Ability to multitask and manage real estate files from start to finish;
- Excellent ability to multi-task, be highly organized and exceptional attention to detail;
- Professional and ability to work independently and juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
- Self-starter with ability to work independently, solve problems and demonstrate initiative;
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;
- Client service oriented.
