POSITION SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Supervisor of Food & Nutrition or designate, the Dietary Aide will be
responsible for assisting in food preparation and food service programs while ensuring
all work areas are cleaned and sanitized according to established safety practices at the
Glen Star Dun Lodge.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Certificate of Completion in Health Care Food Service Worker Program approved by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities and recognized by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care or equivalent.
OR if the above is not applicable
Food Service Workers with institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service experience (in place of the identified educational / training requirements) that the licensee is reasonably satisfied will allow them to perform the duties required of the position.
IN CONJUNCTION WITH :
- Successful completion of a Food Handler Training Program offered or approved by the Board of Health for the Public Health Unit and to be maintained in good standing.
- Graduate of a secondary school program.
- Experience with therapeutic and textured modified diets is an asset.
- Previous experience in an institutional kitchen an asset
- Excellent communication skills with residents, families, visitors, volunteers, students, and fellow staff
- Be able to do moderate to heavy lifting.
- Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance and infection control.
- Bilingualism will be considered an asset.
- Must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations.
- Prospective candidates will need to demonstrate screening for tuberculosis and other infectious diseases in accordance with any standard or protocol issued by the Director.
